Why Now?
The Alternative Practitioner Academy, also known as Leidecker Institute (or Leidecker Center), was founded in 1996 and became the first school in Illinois approved to provide a professional training in hypnotism.
The school was founded by Art Leidecker, a Board Certified Hypnotherapist/Instructor with the National Guild of Hypnotists, a Certified Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP) Instructor, and President of the International Association of Medical and Therapeutic Specialists.
Since then, we have earned the reputation of an institution that provides education in hypnotherapy and complementary health care therapies on the highest level of professionalism and integrity.

Our goal is to educate the public in the value of hypnotherapy and other complementary healing modalities, promote harmony, mutual trust and cooperation among practitioners, and to protect and advance the art, science, and philosophy of hypnotism.
